Patient's Rights

Patient & Family Rights: The patients and their family have the right to:

- Inform the patients and their family with the facility’s mission and their responsibility towards it.
- Receive assistance from healthcare providers working in the facility.
- Announce the means of communication with the facility.

Getting Health Care: The patients and their family have the right to:

- Provide the patient with the right treatment in the right time, regardless of race, religion, creed, sex, age or disability. That is according to the policies and procedures of treatment eligibility and the capacity of the facility and its regulations.
- Ensure that the patients or their legal guardian is clearly informed about the case and health status in an understandable language.
- Have an appropriate mechanism to educate them enough to deal with the patient’s medical condition.

Privacy and Confidentiality:

- Preserve the confidentiality of the patient's information, diagnosis, reports, treatment and medical records, unless the patient or their legal guardian consent to expose them and prevention of misuse it - unless it's legally needed.- Refuse to discuss to a non-related person to healthcare delivery.

- The Patient’s medical record is accessible only to the medical team, quality program team, and people with written authorization of the patient, legal guardian or legal authorities.

Participation in the Healthcare Plan: The patients & their family have the right to:

- Inform the patient of the services provided by the health facility.
- Provide the patients or their legal guardians with complete and updated information about the diagnosis and treatment in an understandable language.
- Inform the patients of with the name and professional status of the healthcare providers responsible for their treatment.
- Discuss with the patients’ legal guardian about the doctor’s consultation the alternatives to the proposed procedures - if any-.
- Provide the patients or their legal guardian with the needed information before any procedure, that is before signing the declaration form and the patient has the right to know the name of the doctor performing the procedure.

Refuse Treatment: The patients and their family have the right to:

- Inform the patients and their legal guardian the right to refuse any medical procedure, considering the laws and regulations, and notify them of the expected consequences after signing the declaration form that confirms it.
- The healthcare provider commits to provide the appropriate health care to the patient according to standard medical criteria. There will be no procedures or decisions taken against the patient as a result of refusing the treatment that is not related to the health condition.
- There will be no procedures or decisions taken against the patient as a result of refusing the treatment in case the patient wanted to treat the same condition or another one.
- The patients or their legal guardians is fully responsible of their decisions or acts.
- Inform the patient of other alternative treatments in case of refusing the treatment.

Participation in Research Studies: The patients and their family have the right to:

- Patients can take a role in a research study that is related to their case upon meeting its requirements and based on the available means of the study.
- The patients have the right whether to participate before or during the research or the study.
- Provide a customized form to participate in any study or research which won’t be count before the patients’ signing it or their legal guardians.
- A (official\ scientific) committee authorizes and supervises the researches and studies.
- Clear mechanism that shows how to protect the patients and receive their complaints and opinions during the research or the study.
- Preserve the patients’ right to cease participating without affecting their right to receive treatment.
- Provide the patients with clear and understandable information regarding the research or the clinical, therapeutic and medication treatment concerning them, and the expected outcomes.

Health Insurance and Financial Policy: The patients and their family have the right to:

- Receive information about the expected cost in advance before any procedures.
- Cognize the limits of the patient's coverage of health insurance and the consequences of that.
- Fulfill all queries regarding medical bills despite who will pay for it.

Complaints and Suggestions Policies and Procedures: The patients and their family have the right to:

- Submitting a verbal or written complaint, whether signed or not signed or proposals for the facility without affecting the quality of the service.
- The complaint can be filed at different levels of the health facility.
- Fast solving the patients or their family complaints' in a record of time.
- Inform the patient of the following procedures and mechanisms in the health facility to deal with complaints, suggestions and the expected time to respond.
- Inform the patient about any available information regarding a complaint or a suggestion.
